Today, <em>ENR West<\/em> is proud to announce the winners of the 2026 Regional Best Projects competition for the Northwest subregion, a selection that highlights the extraordinary ingenuity currently shaping Washington, Oregon, and Alaska.<\/p>\n<p>Following an intensive multi-week evaluation process, a panel of independent industry experts has distilled 39 high-caliber project submissions into 13 &quot;Best Project&quot; winners and 14 &quot;Awards of Merit.&quot; These projects represent the pinnacle of modern construction, demonstrating unparalleled success in navigating site-specific challenges, delivering community-defining infrastructure, and maintaining rigorous standards for safety and design.<\/p>\n<h2>The Judging Process: Integrity and Expertise<\/h2>\n<p>The hallmark of the <em>ENR<\/em> Best Projects competition is the caliber of its jurors and the integrity of the selection process. This year\u2019s panel consisted of distinguished AEC professionals tasked with evaluating projects based on a holistic set of criteria: team collaboration in overcoming project hurdles, meaningful contributions to the industry and the local community, and a steadfast commitment to safety and construction quality.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure absolute impartiality, <em>ENR West<\/em> enforces a strict conflict-of-interest policy. Judges were prohibited from scoring any categories in which their own firms submitted entries and were required to abstain from evaluating any project where they held a direct professional or financial interest.<\/p>\n<p>Specialized categories were overseen by industry leaders. Pooja Sannamani, Senior Associate and Sustainable Buildings and Infrastructure Lead with AECOM, served as the lead judge for the <strong>Excellence in Sustainability<\/strong> contest, while Brian Sorensen, Director of Safety at Exxel Pacific, Inc., provided the final word on the <strong>Excellence in Safety<\/strong> submissions.<\/p>\n<h2>A Look Ahead: The Project of the Year<\/h2>\n<p>While the category winners have been finalized, the competition\u2019s highest honor remains under wraps. The judges have selected three finalists for the prestigious <strong>ENR West Northwest 2026 Project of the Year<\/strong>. The <strong>Excellence in Safety<\/strong> winner, the Federal Way Link Extension (Kiewit), proved that even the most massive transit infrastructure projects can be completed with a &quot;zero-harm&quot; mentality. Awards of Merit for safety were granted to The Kaye (Skanska USA Building) and the Alaska Airlines Global Training Center (Howard S.
